Who are you and when did you join RocketSki?
My name’s Steve. I’ve worked with the RocketSki team for the past 12 years on the operations side of the company and became manager during the 2018/19 season.
Skier or Snowboarder?
Skier
When did you start skiing/snowboarding? What got you into it?
I had a couple of odd days skiing during sports tours when I was at school and college. I really got hooked when I lived in south-west France in 1984/5 and had the opportunity to spend some time skiing in the Pyrenees.
Favourite ski holiday memory
There are so many. When I first started working in group travel in the late 80s I organised trips for groups of up to 60 friends (and friends of friends), which were quite memorable for a number of reasons. I’ve had the good fortune to ski some of the resorts surrounding spectacular Lake Tahoe in California and more recently I’ve enjoyed Christmas trips with family and friends to Serre Chevalier and Montgenevre.
Favourite ski resort on our programme
I’ve had a couple of great trips to Serre Chevalier in the last three years. It’s a large snow-sure area with some great long runs linking the four different areas.
Ski industry history
I first started working for a group ski and tour operator in 1986. After a period away working in the cruise industry I joined the group of companies that includes RocketSki in 2008.
Who are you and when did you join RocketSki?
I’m Bill, I joined RocketSki back in 2012 but I had already done a few winter seasons with the company beforehand.
Skier or Snowboarder?
Snowboarder all the way!
When did you start skiing/snowboarding? What got you into it?
A friend convinced me to do a winter season back in 2006/2007, that’s when I first learnt to snowboard. I loved it so much, I ended up doing 4 more winter seasons.
Favourite ski holiday memory
My best memory is back from when I got on the first lift of the day with friends and we all managed to get our first tracks in the fresh pow!
Favourite ski resort on our programme
Serre Chevalier - it’s not that well known in comparison to other French resorts, but has a massive ski area matching some of the better known resorts (Les Deux Alpes, Alpe d'Huez). It has some great runs (Marteau is a fave), awesome off piste and all set in traditional French towns!
Ski industry history
I’ve been snowboarding and working in the ski industry since 2007 and have been lucky enough to snowboard all over the world.
